Dwayne Horn Dwayne was born on the naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, and moved with his family to Deming, New Mexico six years later. He participated in basketball, football and track throughout his school years in Deming. Dwayne received a basketball scholarship from Mesa State and played for the Mavericks for four years. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Performance and Wellness with a concentration in Corporate Fitness. After graduation, Dwayne became a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness, and was certified as a Group Exercise Instructor through Aerobic Fitness Association of America. Dwayne is pleased to have trained many clients, including Hollywood actress Rachel McAdams and model AC Brown. Dwayne enjoys seeing people live healthy and productive lives. He believes that staying in shape is the best gift you can give yourself. His motto is “Work hard, play hard.” Laurie Broyles Laurie attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and Mesa State College, receiving her Exercise/Science Degree in 2001. She was a member of the Mesa State Tennis team, and continues to enjoy playing tennis. She is also very passionate when it comes to running and she loves to endurance train. Laurie recently had her first baby girl, Bailee. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, little girl, and their Golden Retriever. Laurie has experienced over 6 years in the Fitness Industry, working at Crossroads Fitness and the YMCA in Colorado Springs. She also worked for Biotest Laboratories, a Sports Supplement Company based out of Colorado Springs. Laurie enjoys Personal Training, as well as teaching Lifestyles Classes. She loves to work with all ages, specializing in fat loss, cardiovascular fitness, general strengthening, rehabilitation, and pre-natal and post-natal exercises. She is a strong believer in making exercise fun and making it a lifestyle for everyone! B.A. in Exercise Science, Mesa State College ACE Certification (American Council on Exercise) Don Holmes Don’s football, coaching and training careers are quite extensive. Football highlights include playing wide receiver at the University of Colorado, where he was a college standout, earning All-Big Eight Conference honors as a sophomore. Don was drafted into the NFL by the Atlanta Falcons in 85, and he played six seasons in the NFL as a wide receiver and special team member. He also earned two pro bowl alternate positions while playing for the Arizona Cardinals. As a coach, Don has served as the Offensive Coordinator to the Colorado Avalanche and the Grand Junction Outlaws semi-pro teams, as well as Head Coach to the Grand Valley Eagles semi-pro team. He has also served as Wide Receiver Coach to the East-West Shrine Game 06, and the Cologne Centurions NFL Europe 07. He was an NFL Intern Special Team Assistant to the Jacksonville Jaguars 05, and to the Washington Redskins 08. Presently, Donnie is the Wide Receiver Coach at Mesa State College, where he has been since 04. In addition to his Fitness Training role at Crossroads Fitness, Donnie had the unique opportunity to train and compete in Body Building under the mentoring of 7-time “Mr. Olympia” Lee Haney, and Body Builder competitor, Tony Pearson.
Rebecca Felix After earning the honor of Valedictorian of her high school class, Rebecca graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a BA in Psychology. She worked four years as a marketing analyst for a large software company before returning to Grand Junction. Rebecca had joined Crossroads when she was 17 and fell in love with Group Exercise classes. She followed her passion for Step Class, and attained certification by the Aerobic Fitness Association of America as an Aerobic Instructor. She has also been certified as a Personal Trainer. Having taught for twelve years, Rebecca is a veteran instructor… Crossroads is fortunate to have had her for nine of those years. Rebecca sets a good example with a good attitude, enthusiasm and professionalism. She is married to Ben, with two sons, Joshua and Brendon. Hobbies include signing, baking, hiking and reading. Heidi Lobato Crossroads is pleased to have enjoyed Heidi as a group exercise instructor for 6 years thus far. Heidi teaches a variety of classes including Step, Chisel, Pilates, Getting Started and Kickboxing. She enjoys teaching basic exercise principles to clients who are just beginning an exercise regimen. Her strength is keeping exercise programs fun and simple. This encourages increased adherence to a healthier lifestyle. Certifications through the American Council on Exercise: Personal Trainer Group Exercise Instructor Certification as MVe Instructor Eric Brunner Eric has a great love for the outdoors; backpacking, hunting, snow skiing, boating, water skiing and jet skiing. He also has a zeal for working out, which he shares through his Personal Training at Crossroads. Eric has been with Crossroads for twelve years. In addition, Eric has taught full time at Grand Junction High School, and is serving as an Intervention Specialist at GJHC. Eric’s education includes certification in Aerobic Pipe Line, 4-year degree in Human Performance and Wellness, Psychology Minor, Speech Minor, Physical Education Teaching Certificate K-12, and a Masters Degree in Education Technology. The proof of Eric’s abilities as a Personal Trainer are the many long-term clients he maintains. Mary Coleman Mary has been passionate about health and fitness all of her life. As a child, she played various sports from pee-wee to High School competitive sports. Mary holds a BS in Sports and Fitness Management from Mesa State College. Her formal education coupled with a lifetime of competitive sports allows Mary to provide sports specific training programs including strength training, muscle building, indoor and outdoor lifestyles fitness, and weight loss. Mary strives to be at the forefront of new exercise trends, and is devoted to working with women of all fitness levels. She has helped many people with a vast range of health issues, more commonly helping women achieve their health and fitness goals. Mary’s passion for fitness, her commitment to her clients, and her relentless energy are the driving forces behind her success. Zach King Zach has enjoyed sports and fitness all of his life. After he graduated from Wiggins High School in Wiggins, Colorado, Zach continued his education at Mesa State. It is there that he graduated in Human Performance and Wellness, with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Zach then changed direction to establish a career as a college minister. Returning to the fitness world, he now enjoys two careers. As a Trainer, Zach specializes in helping individuals with injuries and those who wish to continue exercise after rehab. Zach also enjoys training anyone who wants to improve their life long fitness. Zach and his wife, Jessica are now expecting their first child. |
